There are many areas to dog handling but all require the same basic obedience training. Our primary aim is to provide a solid foundation in this basic training. Whether you just want your dog to be well behaved (as most of our members do) or you want to go further and be competitive in the dog world you still require this same basic training.
Another aspect of dog club life is the opportunity for dogs to learn to socialise with each other. This is something that is not easily found anywhere other than at a club. Once you are able to control your dog whilst other dogs are working or playing close by you can begin to feel that you have taught your dog to be OBEDIENT. That is what dog training is all about; teaching your dog to OBEY your COMMANDS. This may sound somewhat strict and regimental but it is no more so than encouraging your dog to play or to wait patiently whilst you prepare his/her feed. Indeed, playing with your dog is a large part of training.
The Upper Valley Dog Club runs on a very friendly and informal basis and you will be made more than welcome anytime you may choose to visit us. If you prefer to have more information first then please contact our secretary, Details at the top of this page.
